The Hertfordshire 100

The Hertfordshire 100 will take place on August 25th 2024. See how this event will help protect rhinos from the threat of poaching at the bottom of the page.

This sportive was our first and we’ve branched out a lot since then, but this ride will always be special to us. This year we’ve done a lot of work tweaking the route. This ride reflects that and it’s 10th birthday should make for the most enjoyable Hertfordshire 100 yet.

A Rewarding Sportive with Challenges to Suit Riders of all Levels

The 3 stunning routes take advantage of the great rural roads and allow riders to choose their challenge of either 100 miles, 64 miles or 33 miles.

The Helping Rhinos Hertfordshire 100 sportive has probably some of the nicest scenery and rolling countryside roads in England, and is just outside of London. Most of the cyclists from the surrounding areas flock to this area to take in the quiet, rural roads that are coupled with demanding hill climbs to satisfy all types of rider.

The route heads out from Brookmans Park through Brickendon with rolling countryside roads that allow you to get warmed up before hitting some undulating hills that really will get you warmed up! At Dane End the long route splits east towards Bishops Stortford to take in more rolling countryside roads around Much Hadam and then heads north and back west to rejoin the medium route after a 40 mile loop. The route continues west towards Welwyn Garden City through little picturesque villages such as Ardeley and Weston before heading south back towards Tewin. All routes finish through the short sharp hills of ‘Little Switzerland’ with 6 miles left to ride, which is the sting in the tail of this unforgettable ride. Riders will be pleased to see the finish after these punishing hills, and will feel great once they settle down to some refreshment at the end.

The HQ is minutes away from the M25 Junction 24 or for those on Public Transport Potters Bar station is very close with regular trains from London.

A Note From Helping Rhinos

Please help the wild rhinos of the world to enjoy the same FREEDOM TO ROAM that the cyclist currently enjoys, by wearing one of our bright lime green jerseys when you ride.  With a photographic print of a white rhino mother and her calf on the back, you will certainly be clearly seen on the road.  However, no hidden poacher is likely attack and hack off your nose while you are riding through the countryside!  Spare a thought for the desperate situation that all innocent rhinos of the world face and join us, the charity partner of the ‘Helping Rhinos Hertford Hundred’ sportive event.

Order your jersey, endorsed by cycling commentator Phil Liggett on line via https://www.condorcycles.com/products/helping-rhinos-short-sleeve-jersey

We do our best to try and make sure your ride on the road runs as smoothly as possible by marking the roads clearly. If you find you have not seen a marker for a while, stop and consult your map, ask someone, or find a landmark and give us a call using the number provided on the day.

Once you complete the ride, make sure you report back to one of our team at the finish line and we’ll make sure your time is recorded. If you do not report back, you may be presumed lost and emergency services may be called.
